Asu Transfer Scholarships
As a nonresident or out-of-state student, you will pay for ASU tuition, fees, on-campus housing, and meals. Books, supplies, transportation, and personal expenses will vary based on your spending options and should be included in your college expense budget. You can get scholarships for different reasons: GPA, residency status, achievements and more. Find out what the requirements are and apply.
You can search for scholarships through your university, school or ASU academic department. Scholarship amounts and eligibility requirements vary, and awards are generally limited to students pursuing a degree in a specific academic program.
Arizona State University offers the New American University Transfer Scholarship to non-resident Arizona transfer students who meet high academic standards and have financial need. Students must apply and have a completed FAFSA on file by March 1 for the fall semester or October 1 for the spring semester for priority consideration.

Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid each year to find out how much federal aid (grants, tuition, and loans) you may receive. The FAFSA is usually available each year on October 1; However, due to FAFSA updates, the 2024-2025 FAFSA is expected to be available in December 2023 (not October). For students starting in the spring or summer of 2024, the 2023-2024 FAFSA is now open. The earlier you apply, the more likely you are to receive help.
After submitting the FAFSA, check your email and priority tasks in My ASU often; this is where you will be notified if ASU needs additional documentation to verify your FAFSA. Students starting ASU in the spring who have already filed this year’s FAFSA must add ASU to their FAFSA. The federal school code for Arizona State University is 001081.

New Student Orientation Experience
Residents of Western states (other than Arizona) may enroll in the Western Underground Exchange Program at a tuition rate of 150 percent of Arizona resident tuition, plus all applicable fees only for in the fall and spring semesters. WUE programs are limited to select majors at the downtown Phoenix, Polytechnic and West campuses. See the full list of participating programs. Eligible students can save $500 to receive $4,000 in scholarship money (8-to-1 match) for a total of $4,500. Funds can be used for ASU tuition and mandatory fees. Arizona Community College students are eligible to apply for the program.
To apply the $500 savings requirement and matching funds to your student account, you must complete the following steps.
Note: Students receiving a tuition waiver or under a union agreement are not eligible for the Earn to Learn program.

The $4,000 Earn to Learn Scholarship consists of $2,000 from the federal government and $2,000 from Arizona State University, spread between the fall and spring semesters. While there is a $2,500 scholarship you can win through the competition itself, you can also get major scholarships from colleges by listing them as your first choice through National Merit. You can get anything from a small scholarship to a full trip, depending on the school. As a general rule, public universities are likely to award more money to National Merit, although there are exceptions. For example, you can get a full scholarship to the University of Idaho and the University of Oklahoma. At Loyola University Chicago, a private university, you can receive $2,000 for being a National Merit Finalist if you nominate Loyola as a First Choice School with the National Merit Corporation. Automatic Scholarships Based on SAT/ACT Scores We will now highlight colleges that offer automatic scholarships based on SAT/ACT scores, in addition to qualifications such as grade point average (GPA) or class rank. For these scholarships, you do not need to provide any additional application information, but in some cases, you must apply before a certain deadline to guarantee the scholarship. Be sure to check each university’s website, which we will link you to, for complete information. Automatic scholarships based on SAT/ACT scores were once more common, but with many colleges becoming test-optional, some schools have switched to automatic scholarships based on GPA. However, some of them still offer automatic scholarships based on test scores.
