As a transfer student, you will pay ASU for tuition and fees, on-campus housing and meals. Books and supplies, transportation, and personal expenses will vary based on your spending choices and should be factored into your college expenses. To receive federal financial aid (grants, loans, and work-study), you must submit a Free Application for State Student Aid each year. Generally, the FAFSA is due on October 1 of each year. However, due to FAFSA updates, the 2024–2025 FAFSA is expected to be due in December 2023 (not October). For students starting in the spring or summer of 2024, the 2023–2024 FAFSA is open. Grants are on a first-come, first-served basis, so apply early.

Once you’ve submitted your FAFSA, check the My ASU favorite actions box regularly to make sure ASU doesn’t need any additional documents from you to verify your FAFSA. All requests will be listed in my ASU or sent to your ASU email. If you are entering ASU in the spring and have already submitted a FAFSA for the year, be sure to include ASU on your FAFSA (Federal School Code 001081) so we can find it.

ASU employs more than 11,000 student workers in part-time hourly and federal positions. A part-time student job is a great way to earn extra money to cover tuition and living expenses. You are encouraged to take advantage of the following programs designed to help lower the cost of attending college.

Financial aid helped my family and I pay for college. I didn’t end up borrowing as much money as I originally planned. I strongly encourage students to apply for financial aid. Michael M. Michael M. Film (Filmmaking) major from Tucson, Arizona $4,000 to receive scholarship funds (8-to-1 match) of $4,500. Funds will be used for ASU tuition and mandatory fees. Arizona community college students are eligible to apply for the program.

To use your $500 savings requirement and matching funds in your student account, you must complete the following steps.

Honors College Scholarships

IDA savings of $500 will be split between the fall and spring semesters. $250 of the IDA deposit will be posted as an “Earn to Learn IDA Deposit” for the fall semester and $250 will be deposited for the spring semester. View all deposits in My ASU > Funds tab > Account Fees Box > Fees

The $4,000 Earn to Learn Scholarship consists of $2,000 from the federal government and $2,000 from ASU, split between the fall and spring semesters. Scholarships will be listed as $1,000 ASU Get Tuition and $1,000 ASU Get Tuition (Private) awards in My ASU for the fall semester and again for the spring semester, for a total of $4,000 per academic year.
